Dental hygiene tips for healthy teeth & gums

What is Zoom Teeth Whitening?

Be it teeth discoloration due to exposed dentin or drinking tea and coffee, one would surely want to regain their glistening teeth. Zoom Teeth Whitening is a bleaching procedure used to make the teeth white through professional means at a dentist’s office. Dentists use a minimum of 25 percent hydrogen peroxide whitening agent and allow the oxygen to enter the enamel and dentin to bleach the stained parts, leaving the tooth’s structure unaltered.

How is the Zoom Teeth Whitening Procedure done?

  1. Usually before you opt for a zoom teeth whitening procedure, you must visit your dentist. Your dentist may conduct some tests before you get a date for the actual process.
  2. The entire procedure will take less than an hour, but you will be asked to take regular teeth cleaning sessions with the dentist before you opt for a Zoom Teeth Whitening session.
  3. The procedure starts with the dentist prepping you up for Zoom Teeth Whitening. Your lips and gums will be covered only, keeping your teeth exposed for the procedure.
  4. The dentist will apply the Zoom teeth whitening hydrogen peroxide whitening gel over your teeth. This paste is left on the teeth for approximately 15 minutes, and then the Zoom light is activated. Working in tandem with the Zoom light, the gel helps to penetrate deep into the enamel and dentin and removes all the discoloration and stains. You will be asked to relax throughout the procedure.
  5. The gel is applied three times which means that you’ll be undergoing three 15 minute Zoom Teeth Whitening sessions back to back followed by the Zoom light activation. The total time taken for the treatment is 45 minutes.
  6. Those who have a gag reflex or feel anxious can face minor inconveniences during the procedure. After the process is over, a sensitivity-reducing fluoride gel is used all over the teeth.

What is the aftercare after Zoom Teeth Whitening?

  1. Your dentist can give you a Zoom home kit for touch up that will include all the custom-fitted teeth whitening trays. Your dentist will tell you when and how to use these touch-up teeth whitening kits.
  2. Your dentist will also advise you to refrain from consuming certain kinds of food like red wine, cola, tea, and coffee that can lead to teeth discoloration and loss of the whitening effect.
  3. Your dentist will ask you to avoid any products that contain tobacco in them as they can stain teeth even after undertaking a Zoom Teeth Whitening session. Your dentist will strongly recommend you against this.
  4. You will need to ensure that you maintain your oral hygiene well, like brushing and flossing correctly to ensure that new stains don’t get formed. You will also be asked to go for teeth cleaning sessions, depending on your requirements.
  5. Your dentist may also advise you to use toothpaste that has fluoride or whitening agents to maintain the effects of the Zoom teeth whitening procedure.

Although you can undertake other teeth whitening products and procedures, Zoom Teeth Whitening is not recommended for children below 13 or pregnant and lactating women. Depending on the stains you have and the test reports, your dentist will decide whether you need a Zoom Teeth Whitening session or not.
